Calculator – Construction Equipment Production Rate – Bulldozer

The make and model for different construction equipment are extensive, and each manufacturer provides a performance chart to help estimate their equipment’s capacity under various conditions. How much material can a bulldozer doze under specific parameters? There is a formula for that, and here is a calculator that calculates a bulldozer’s production rate per hour. Similar to this calculator, other construction equipment production rate calculators have been configured for several types of earthwork construction equipment. This calculator is for educational purposes only. Consult the manufacturer of your equipment for production rate calculation.

Bulldozer Dozing Production Rate Calculator
Minute to Hour Conversion
Minutes/HR
Foot to Mile Conversion
FT/Mile
Total Distance to and from (FT) - Between 60 FT and 600 FT
FT
Average Speed to and from - Between 1 MPH and 6 MPH
Mile/Hr
Blade Payload Volume (LCY) - Between 1 LCY and 8 LCY Capacity
LCY
Material Fill Factor - Between 0.5 and 0.99
Production Efficiency Rate - Between 0.5 and 0.99
LCY/HR = (60 Minutes/HR × Blade Size in LCY × Material Fill Factor × Production Efficiency Rate) ÷ (Push Time in Minutes, Plus Return Time in Minutes, Plus Maneuver Time in Minutes)
Push Time in Minutes OR Return Time in Minutes OR Maneuver Time in Minutes = (60 Minutes/HR × Distance in FT) ÷ (Speed of Dozer in Miles/HR × 5280 FT/Mile)
Material Fill Factor: Ratio of the actual volume of material in the bucket compared to the bucket's rated-heaped capacity.
Production Efficiency Rate: The number of operating minutes per hour divided by 60 minutes. Efficiency is 0.83 when operating 50-min in an hour.
