The Construction Practice Readiness™ Assessment (CPRA) is designed to measure your ability to apply foundational construction knowledge, skills, and abilities within realistic construction practice environments. Unlike traditional course evaluations that primarily measure student satisfaction, this assessment evaluates your construction practice readiness—your ability to understand, plan, execute, evaluate, and make decisions related to construction operations. This assessment measures your readiness before and after completing the Interactive Webbook on Heavy Civil Construction Materials and Methods – Student Edition.
The assessment evaluates ten foundational readiness areas identified within the Construction Practice Readiness™ Framework (CPRF):
It evaluates: (1) your systems-level understanding of the interactive webbook unit and its associated items of work; (2) your ability to interpret contract drawings and specifications; (3) your ability to conduct quantity takeoffs; (4) your ability to prepare work plans for construction work tasks; (5) your ability to prepare and evaluate labor daily cost analyses; (6) your ability to conduct production planning, forecasting, and reporting; (7) your ability to logically sequence construction activities; (8) your ability to evaluate the hourly production rates of construction equipment; (9) your ability to prepare, review, and apply submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs); and (10) your ability to analyze and learn from real-project case studies to support sound construction decision-making.
Your responses contribute to a Construction Practice Readiness Profile that identifies your current strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for continued professional development. The goal of this assessment is not to measure perfection. The goal is to measure growth from understanding construction concepts to applying them in construction practice.
