About the Construction Practice Readiness Index™ (CPRI™)
The Construction Practice Readiness Index™ (CPRI™) is a multidimensional assessment instrument developed to evaluate the educational effectiveness of the Interactive Webbook on Heavy Civil Construction Materials and Methods – Student Edition. By comparing students’ self-reported competency levels before and after using the webbook across ten core construction practice competencies, the CPRI™ measures growth in construction practice readiness and professional competency development.
The resulting radar chart provides a comprehensive visual representation of students’ competency growth, enabling educators, academic programs, and students to assess learning gains and readiness to apply construction engineering knowledge, technical skills, and professional judgment in real-world construction projects. The index serves as an evidence-based measure of educational impact while identifying areas of strength and opportunities for continued professional development.
The CPRI™ is founded on the Construction Practice Readiness™ Framework (CPRF), which organizes construction practice readiness into ten core competency domains that collectively define the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities required for successful practice in the construction industry.
